Allequippa (Oak Hill) Housing, Pittsburgh
Allequippa (Oak Hill)
The 500,000 GSF is distributed between clustered townhouse units, and six "Garden Apartment" buildings which pushed the limits of structural wood design.

Townhouses are conventional stick framing with engineered floor and roof joists. All units are designed with completely separate double demising walls, allowing for completely independent support in the event of fire damage to any individual unit.

Comfort Inn (Revere, MA)
The project entailed structural design and construction administration of an 8-story, 115,000 SF building.

The structure consists of precast plank over reinforced concrete masonry walls, with steel beams and columns at the first floor. The building is supported on pile foundations.

Auburn Court, Cambridge MA

This project comprised 7 steel-framed buildings, varying in height from 3 to 7 stories, for a total of 75 housing units.

The floor system is 2-1/2 inch concrete topping on form deck, supported on open web joists, steel beams, and columns. The first floor concrete slabs are supported on pressure injected footings. The facade is typically clapboard, except that EIFs are used in the 7-story building.

The renovations included a steel framed canopy for the new front entrance.

Academy Homes II Apartments (Boston, MA)
Academy Homes II Apartments
An entire community of townhouse clusters is encompassed by this development of over 230 units.

Concrete foundation and basement design was much more complex than usual for residential structures. Floor and roof trusses were coordinated with a prefabrication company and extensive use of LVL and other engineered wood products support the unique geometries required by each cluster.

Langham Court Housing (Boston, MA)
Recognized by a 1993 AIA National Honor Award, this 113,000 GSF housing structure consists of a 5-story U-shaped main building, two 4-story wings and a basement-level parking garage.

Langham Court Housing
The superstructure is constructed of concrete topping over steel form deck, supported by open web steel joists and steel framing. Lateral forces are resisted by braced frames and moment frames. The entire building is supported on conventional spread footings.
